Capital Cities | Safe and Sound

“Safe and Sound”, the excellent single from LA based Capital Cities, has been on my iPod for ages, but now it finally has a fantastic video companion (seriously, one of the best I have posted this year). 

The clip goes through the history off dance in what must be the most epic dance-off of all time. And props to those behind editing this one, because it’s very, very cleverly done.

Chad Valley (Featuring Twin Shadow) | I Owe You This

Chad Valley’s voice alone leaves an impact, but bring in Twin Shadow’s George Lewis Jr and his unmistakable croon and you’ve got the recipe for a great collaboration. 

“I Owe You This” is in fact a great collaborative cut from these two guys, and the retro-tinted sound is complimented by this clip, which founds a group of friends hanging out after-hours at an AMF bowling alley that looks like the ones you probably grew up hanging out in. Except my friends didn’t have super powers… lame.

Alphabeat’s 3rd album Express Non-Stop isn’t out for another week, but you can listen to clips from every song now with this video gift from the band! So much retro-tinged pop goodness. 

Twin Shadow | Patient 

I just discovered the brilliance of Twin Shadow last week. I loved “Five Seconds”, I got the new album Confess, and I fell in insta-love. In fact, I’ve had the album pretty much on constant repeat and it’s looking like a strong contender for my top 5 of 2012. Yeah, it’s GOOD. It’s one of those albums that is strong from start to finish. I have favorites already, like “Five Seconds” and “Run My Heart” and this track, “Patient” as well. 

The video flashes to the previous clip for “Five Seconds” in which a motorcycle drive led to a lot of fighting. There’s some fighting in this one as well, but a lot more dancing and angst and snare drums. Loved them in the song, and love seeing them appear here. 

So watch this video. Get this album. It’s the best stuff from the 80s that wasn’t released in the 80s. 

Twin Shadow | 5 Seconds

Busy weekend. Nothing quite like recouping at home, music on, book out and the rain falling steadily outside. 

Here’s a song I’ve been enjoying for a bit now, but only now got around to seeing the video for. It’s an artsy affair, or at least the long spoken word intro would have you believe, but then it’s mostly two badass dudes fighting in the woods.
