The Lonely Island | SEMICOLON (Feat Solange)
Well the boys of The Lonely Island are back with a LOLworthy new single that not only brings the laughs, but schools you with some grammar. So click play and get edumikated!
Lissie | Shameless
I first heard American folk rocker Lissie back in 2010 or so with her song “When I’m Alone” from the debut album Catching a Tiger, and kind of fell in love…and then shamefully forgot about her.
But now she’s back on my radar with “Shameless”, more rock than folk, and a big dose of awesome. I’m sorry, Lissie, for forgetting about you. Going to buy some of your music now to make up for it.
Her new, still untitled album drops sometime this summer, 2013.
Empire of the Sun | Alive
I posted Empire of the Sun’s latest super-catchy single a few weeks back, as well as the album teaser, but forgot to put up the official video for “Alive”. The clip builds on the teaser, with the band dressed as outrageous godlike figures who are hanging around in the desert singing and dancing and looking serious, as gods often do.
Their sophomore album Ice on the Dune is out June 18th.
Kid Astray | Like You Care
And suddenly with this song I do indeed care about these guys from Oslo, Norway. They’re making sensational indie pop right up there with their neighbors over in Sweden. Have a listen and check out more tunes on their Soundcloud page.

Crystal Fighters | You & I
British band Crystal Fighters has a new LP, Cave Rave, coming out at the end of this month, and here’s a new video for super happy single “You & I”. The video is not quite as happy as the song, except that it is very sweet in a morbid sort of way. It’s a love story of a very odd variety, but definitely worth a look, even if the ending will probably leave you gaping at the screen for a few seconds.
The 1975 | fallingforyou
These Manchester rockers have yet another EP coming out today, including “fallingforyou”, which finds them slowing things down. It’s a really lovely track from these boys that seem on a fast track to blowing up big.
The new EP “IV” is out today so go grab it and all the rest of their stuff while you’re at it.

Fenech-Soler | Magnetic
Fall into this trippy dream and on through further into the old rabbit hole with these British boys and their video for single “Magnetic”, which is exactly what this song/video combo is.
“Magnetic” comes off their upcoming 2nd album Rituals, 3 years since their debut. You can buy the song July 1st and the album will follow at the beginning of September.
Vampire Weekend | Step (Official Lyric video)
In preparation for VW’s Fuji Rock set this summer, I started listening to their albums again, and then yesterday began streaming their upcoming album Modern Vampires of the City on iTunes. I’ve already listened to it 3 times through and can safely say it is pretty brilliant from front to back.
Here’s the official lyric video for one of many standout tracks, “Step”.
You can pre-order the new album now, which drops May 13/14th
Rivers Cuomo and Scott Murphy | Homely Girl
Well. Ok. Rivers Cuomo of Weezer fame and singer/songwriter Scott Murphy got together and decided to make an album almost entirely sung in Japanese. I’m not sure if this was a brilliant idea or what. But it exists and the single “Homely Girl” is kind of catchy and they’re slightly bad Japanese accents are kind of cute in a funny sort of way.
Capital Cities | Safe and Sound
“Safe and Sound”, the excellent single from LA based Capital Cities, has been on my iPod for ages, but now it finally has a fantastic video companion (seriously, one of the best I have posted this year).
The clip goes through the history off dance in what must be the most epic dance-off of all time. And props to those behind editing this one, because it’s very, very cleverly done.
Capital Cities album In A Tidal Wave of Mystery is out June 11th
Young Galaxy | Pretty Boy
“Pretty Boy”, the first single off YG’s latest album Ultramarine is exactly the kind of slick synth-pop I’ve always enjoyed from these guys, but their lyrics are reaching profound new heights here.
So find your pretty boy and get ready to dance.
